    OXIS Head of Centre

    Leera A. Boodram has successfully completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in Economics at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. Her doctoral research explored the behavior of trade in small energy-producing economies, with a focus on Trinidad and Tobago. She also holds an M.Sc. in Economics with Distinction, specialising in International Trade and Econometrics, and a B.Sc. in Management Studies and Economics (Double Major) with First Class Honours.

    Her research contributions are extensive, with publications in leading academic journals covering critical topics such as the Dutch disease, reindustrialisation, trade complementarity, manufacturing, foreign direct investment, China’s impact on Small Island Developing States, and the role of language in facilitating trade. She has coauthored influential studies with renowned experts in her field and presented her findings at notable conferences.

    Currently, she serves as the Head of Centre at The Oxbridge International School (Middle School, Upper School and Advanced Levels) and also teaches Economics and Business. Additionally, she spearheads initiatives in special education and curriculum development, demonstrating her dedication to inclusive learning environments. Leera’s expertise in econometric modeling, policy analysis, and research methods is complemented by her leadership in extracurricular activities, environmental advocacy, and community service.
